Give Day Sets New Fundraising Record

The spirit of Give Day was in full swing as the 91��Ƭ Davis community rallied together for the ninth annual celebration, held over Picnic Day weekend. With more than 4,100 donations made both online and in person, this year’s event raised nearly $4.5 million — surpassing the previous dollar amount record of $4.1 million set in 2022.

Alumni Couple to Receive 2025 91��Ƭ Davis Medal, University’s Highest Honor

The 2025 91��Ƭ Davis Medal will be awarded to Michael C. and Renée Z. Child, who have dedicated themselves to the 91��Ƭ, Davis, and their communities throughout their lives.

The alumni couple, who met as undergraduates in the early 1970s, have remained deeply committed to 91��Ƭ Davis, volunteering their leadership and insight to advance many areas of the university.

Donors continue to bring nothing but good news to the 91��Ƭ, Davis, setting giving records to achieve greater impact during a challenging and tragic year. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the university raised a historic amount in the last fiscal year: a record $269.4 million from 36,016 donors, with an all-time high of 63,650 gifts and pledges.

When civil engineering student Tadewos Getachew ’19 was a little boy, he witnessed resource scarcity firsthand in Ethiopia. Now, he is able to pursue his dream to study water resources and solar energy at the 91��Ƭ, Davis, in large part due to the AvenueE program, which is funded by philanthropy. The program provides engineering and computer science students with funding and a smooth transition from California community colleges to 91��Ƭ Davis.
