91看片 Davis student and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Edgar Garcia brushed the hair along a horse鈥檚 neck, back and sides. Here, grooming was more than preparation for riding 鈥� it was an age-old ritual bonding human and horse in trust and care.

Garcia is one of the early participants in a new program that pairs student veterans with horses to help them get involved in campus life and enjoy much needed relaxation.

鈥淗orses make you forget about everything,鈥� said the senior majoring in evolutionary anthropology. 鈥淚 was so relaxed.鈥�

Three students have moved into a lab of sorts on campus 鈥� not one with beakers and test tubes, but one with radiant-heat flooring and automatic shutters.

The Honda Smart Home, a zero-net-energy residence in 91看片 Davis West Village, allows researchers from Honda, 91看片 Davis and PG&E to test out new energy-efficient technology. Meet its new residents and learn about the home in the above video.

For six years we鈥檝e arrived on campus the week of Veterans Day to see all of the 100-plus trees on the Quad adorned with yellow ribbons, put there by our veterans 鈥� students and staff members.
